Learn how to install a linerless cutter kit in your CL4NX Plus printer with this step-by-step guide.
- Before the installation, be sure to power off the product and disconnect the power cord.
- Be careful not to touch the cutter blade.
- Phillips screwdriver (JIS #2 or equivalent)
Step 1: Open the top cover and print head
- Open the top cover (1).
- Open the print head (2).

Step 2: Remove the front covers
- Remove two screws (3).
- Slide to remove the front covers (4) and (5).

Step 3: Remove the platen roller assembly
- Remove the platen roller assembly (6).
Step 4: Remove the media sensor guide
- Tilt the lock of the media sensor guide (7) in the direction shown.
- Remove the media sensor guide (7) from the sensor holder.
Step 5: Remove the media guard
- Remove two screws (8).
- Remove the media guard (9).

Step 6: Remove the left housing cover
- Remove the screw (10).
- Slide and lift the left housing cover (11) in the arrow direction to remove it.
Note:
When removing the left housing cover, make sure that the cover does not touch the PCB, preventing deformation of the PCB components.

Step 7: Remove the sensor holder assembly
- Pull out the sensor holder assembly (12) from the product.
Note:
Be careful not to break the wires.

Step 8: Paste the pure sheet (sensor)
- Clean the areas (a) and (b) on the sensor holder assembly (12) where the sheet is to be pasted.
- Align (a) and (b) to the areas on the sensor holder assembly and paste the sheet as shown.
Step 9: Insert the sensor holder assembly
- Insert the sensor holder assembly (12) by aligning the rail to fit in the protrusion as shown.
- Do not close the print head when inserting the sensor holder assembly.
- Make sure that the movement of the sensor holder assembly is smooth.

Step 10: Arrange the wire route
- Arrange the wire route so that the yellow wire is under the sensor holder assembly.

Step 11: Attach the media frame (linerless)
- Attach the media frame (linerless) (14) by tightening the screws (8) while pressing down the media frame.
Step 12: Attach the linerless platen roller
- Attach the linerless platen roller (15).
Step 13: Attach the media sensor guide
- Attach the media sensor guide (9).
- Tilt the sensor guide lock back to the locked position.
- Make sure that the movement of the sensor holder assembly is smooth.
- Set the media sensor guide to the innermost side.

Step 14: Connect the option and cutter cables
- Connect the option cable (16) and cutter cable (17) to the linerless relay PCB (18).
- Tighten two screws (19) to attach the linerless relay PCB.

Step 15: Attach the front cover
- Attach the front cover (5) while placing the cutter cable (17) onto the slot.

Step 16: Connect the cutter cable to the linerless cutter unit
- Connect the cutter cable (17) to the PCB on the linerless cutter unit (20).

Step 17: Attach the linerless cutter unit
- Attach the linerless cutter unit (20) to the product.
- Tighten four screws (22).
Step 18: Attach the front cover of the cutter
- Pull the tab to open the cutter-open lever.
- Attach the front cover (23) of the cutter.
- Tighten two screws (3).
- Close and lock the cutter-open lever.

Step 19: Attach the left housing cover
- Attach the left housing cover (11).
- Tighten the screw (10).
- Align the catches of the cover to the circled position and slide the cover in the arrow direction.
- When attaching the cover, be careful not to pinch the cables.

Checking and adjusting after the installation
Preparation
- Load direct thermal media to the product for checking the print position. (Linerless media is not required)
Error message checking
- After loading the media and ribbon, close the print head and top cover.
- Power on the product.
- Pull the tab to open the cutter-open lever.

- Check that the Cutter open error message shows on the LCD.
- Close and lock the cutter-open lever.
