Learn how to install a cutter in your WS4-DT printer with this step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Remove the base and the middle frame
Before installing the cutter, you need to remove certain components of the printer.
- Open the top cover.
- Loosen and remove the two screws on each side of the tear bar.
- Remove the tear bar from the printer.
- Turn the printer over.
- Loosen and remove the four screws securing the base.
- Lift the base and unplug all cables.
- Remove both the base and the middle frame.
Step 2: Connect the cutter to the main board
Once the necessary parts have been removed, follow these steps to install and connect the cutter:
- Thread the cutter cable and the ground wire (fork terminal) into the two square holes beside the right side of the platen roller.

- Reinstall the middle frame.
- Plug the cutter connector into J8, the white port located to the right of the main board.
- Loosen the screw beside J8, connect the ground wire, and then tighten the screw to secure it.
- Plug all other cables back into the main board.
- Reinstall the base and secure it with four screws.
- Turn the printer over and open the top cover.
Step 3: Secure the cutter to the printer
Once the cutter is connected, secure it in place:

- Align the two screw holes of the cutter with the screw holes on both sides of the platen roller. Ensure the cutter dowel (at the bottom of the cutter) fits into the square hole on the middle frame.
- Secure the cutter with two screws.
- Reinstall the platen roller.
Step 4: Test the cutter
After installing the cutter, test its functionality by following these steps:
- Press the holder lock on the media roll holders to slide them outward, then place the media roll between the holders. Ensure the print side is facing up and that the media roll is clamped tightly.
- Pull the media until it extends out of the printer and thread it under the media guides.
- Thread the media into the slot of the cutter.
- Close the top cover.
- Send a print job or press the FEED button to test if the cutter is working correctly.
